Gonzalo Borondo Chrysalis

Spanish artist Gonzalo Borondo’s “Chrysalis” is a large-scale public art installation enveloping the scaffolding of the Museum Villa Stuck’s main façade. Utilizing white and gold hues, the artwork features mythological figures like fauns and centaurs, along with Dionysian elements and themes of Eros and Thanatos, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. The installation serves as a translucent skin over the building, creating a dialogue between the museum’s historical context and Borondo’s modern artistic vision. “Chrysalis” symbolizes transformation, reflecting the ongoing metamorphosis of both the museum and the surrounding urban landscape. The exhibition is accessible to the public at any time, as it is displayed on the building’s exterior.
